Background
Manitoba-oculo-tricho-anal syndrome (MOTA), is a distinct autosomal recessive multiple malformation syndrome caused by mutations in the FREM1 gene [1] resulting ocular coloboma. Complications of eyelid coloboma are mainly due to corneal exposure from large upper eyelid defects resulting in exposure keratopathy (EK) and corneal ulceration if left untreated [2].
