Dr. Sadeghian shares how the sMap3D™ has been an asset to his clinic, reducing chair time and providing his patients with perfect-fit lenses.
“The superior technology allows me to provide cutting-edge and precise scleral lens evaluation and fit,” said Dr. Sadeghian.
The Visionary Optics team spoke with Dr. Arash Sadeghian at Corona Optometry in California about how the sMap3D helped his practice improve care and meet patients’ specific needs.
“The sMap3D takes the guesswork out of the fitting process,” said Dr. Sadeghian. “It allows me to safely and comfortably fit all of my patients with precise measurements from the first fit. With only a few follow-up visits, we are able to find the perfect match for patients’ unique cornea and sclera.”

Case Study
The Challenge
A 42-year-old Hispanic male presenting with keratoconus, dry eyes, dense SPK, primary open angle glaucoma and corneal scarring came to see me. The patient had previously worn hybrid contact lenses and was referred to our clinic after he developed scarring on his cornea from the hybrid contact lens. The initial BCVA was 20/40 OD and 20/80 OS.
The Solution
I used the sMap3D technology to measure the patient’s corneal and scleral data so I could design the ideal lens based on his information. Thanks to the wonderful team at Visionary Optics, we were able to find a perfect pair of Europa lenses with ideal vault and peripheral clearance after only one set of lenses.
The Results
The final BCVA with Europa lenses was OD 20/20 and OS 20/25. The patient’s dense SPK was resolved after just two weeks of Europa wear time.
Visionary Optics and sMap3D are consistent with our core mission to provide quality care and advanced technology to our patients. Our patients are like family to our staff, and we want nothing but the best for them. The sMap3D has significantly reduced my chair time and helped me give my patients hope again.
